Floorplate Editor

Floorplate Assignment and Editing

The platform allows users to define, assign, and edit floor plate configurations across different levels of a building. This process includes assigning floor plate types (e.g., roof, typical, ground) and configuring the internal layout for each floor.

Access Floorplate Settings

notion image
From the Scenario view, select a building component (e.g., Residential Building 1). On the right-hand property panel, navigate to:
  1. The section labelled “Floor Plate”
  1. Press the Ellipses menu
  1. Under “Typical”, select the ellipses menu again
  1. Press “View”, Do not press “edit”

View and Edit Floorplate Layouts

To modify a specific prototype layout:
  • Select the floor plate under the Floorplate section.
  • Switch between Viewing and Editing modes from the top menu.

Repositioning Lift Core
notion image
To modify the position of the lift core placement, user need to enter :
  • Enter editing mode to adjust the lift core placements and modify the block’s shape.
  • Click on a cluster core to select it.
  • Drag the selected core along the spine to reposition it as needed.
  • Click on the Green Tick on the top toolbar to solve.

Rotating Lift Core
notion image
To rotate the lift core, user can:
  • Enter editing mode to adjust the lift core placements.
  • To select a cluster core, click on it. Then hover your cursor over the circular display. When the circle turns yellow, it means the core is ready for rotation.
  • Rotate the cluster around the central node to reposition it as needed.
  • Click on the Green Tick on the top toolbar to solve.

Adjusting Numbers of Lifts and Stairs
User can add/remove the number of lifts and stairs in the cluster core.
notion image
To make the adjustments in the cluster core, user can:
  • Enter editing mode
  • To select a cluster core, click on it. Adjust the number of lifts and stairs.
  • Click on the Green Tick on the top toolbar to solve.

Adding Unit Attractors

Attractor nodes are guides that help the system decide where and how many units to place. Think of them as magnets—you drop them along the spine, and they pull units toward their side.
notion image
Once you are in editing mode, select the “unit attractors” option will allow you to place Unit Attractors along the corridor of your project.
notion image
Simply click on the green portion of the building corridor to place Unit Attractors. Users are configuring a unit attractor (Node A) to guide Podium’s automated placement of units along a corridor.
Users can also drag the unit attractor triangle across to corridor to change the position of the node.

Ranking
Users can place multiple Unit Attractors and determine the rankings.
Ranking indicates the order in which Podium should prioritize attractors when resolving the layout. Currently, Unit Attractor Node A is ranked 1st.
There are 2 ways to adjust the rankings of each Unit Attractor:
  1. Users can reorder the ranking by clicking the six-dot drag handle in the right panel. In the example above, Unit Attractor Node C is being moved to adjust its position.
  1. Users can select the specific Node and change the ranking position in the right panel.

Users can choose specific Unit Attractor Nodes and set their direction to either left or right. In the example above, selecting the right direction will cause the solver to pull units toward the right side of the corridor. To define which units are affected, users can select the desired unit type from the Unit Attractor Targets dropdown menu.
notion image
In the example above, Unit Attractor Node C’s target is set to 2-Bedroom units, with the requirement to place 1 unit towards the right side of the corridor.

Attractors act like magnets, influencing how and where specific unit types are placed based on corridor alignment and project constraints.
