Exporting Data
Podium lets you export your project designs and data in multiple formats:
- Export to Excel: Export scenario metrics as an Excel spreadsheet for reporting and analysis.
- Export to IFC: Download a standardized IFC file for sharing BIM data across platforms.
- Export to Revit: Export your project directly into a RVT format for further design development.
- Export to ETABS: Export your structural model to .EDB format for FEA (Finite Elements Analysis).
- Export to DXF: Generate 2D DXF plans of your scenarioβs floor plans.

Area Schedules
Users can download area schedules for selected scenarios and export them to Excel for further analysis.

Click the Downloads icon in the right-hand panel, then open the kebab menu next to Area Schedule.xlsx.

A popup displaying all scenarios created within the project will appear. Select the scenario you want to export the Area Schedule for, then click Download. Users can select multiple scenarios to export into Excel as well.

A single Excel file will be generated, containing each scenario in separate tabs along with an Overall tab for scenario comparison.

All downloaded files are consolidated under Files & Documents. Users can revisit this section to access and extract the required files without having to reinitiate the download process.

Export to DXF (Coming soon)
Podium allows you to export 2D DXF plans of your site and specific building storeys during a feasibility study. These files are designed to be incorporated into your professional project documentation, allowing you to use CAD software (like AutoCAD) to add detailed annotations, dimensions, and title blocks.
The initial release of this feature only works for projects of type residential.

1. Exporting from Site View
To export CAD files while viewing your overall project layout:
- Open a project scenario in Site View.
- Locate the Downloads icon in the right-hand panel.
- If your scenario contains buildings, a CAD option will appear.
- Click the meatball menu (three dots) next to the CAD option to open the export configuration modal.
Selection Logic
The content of the export modal depends on whether you have an object selected in the viewer:
- With No Elements Selected: You can choose from the Site Plan, Ground Floor Plan, and any individual Buildings in the scenario.
- With a Building Selected: The modal will display all available typical floor plans for that specific building.
2. Exporting from Floor Plate Editor
You can also trigger exports while fine-tuning specific levels:
- In the Floor Plate Editor, navigate to the right-hand panel.
- Choose to download a DXF for the currently selected floor plate or all floor plates within that building.
3. The Export Process & Notifications
Once you confirm your selection in the modal, Podium handles the generation in the background so you can continue working.
- Process Start: A notification will appear confirming the CAD export has begun.
- Completion: You will see a second notification message when the files are ready.
- Retrieval: * A ZIP file containing your DXF(s) will be pushed to your local downloads folder.
- A copy is automatically stored in the Project File Repository within Podium for version control.
4. Working in CAD Software
When you open your exported files in AutoCAD or similar software, the data is organized for immediate use:
- Layer Management: Building elements are automatically assigned to corresponding layers (e.g., walls, windows, slabs).
- Visibility Control: You can toggle these layers on or off to clean up your view for final documentation.
Export Folder
All downloaded files are consolidated within each Project.

Click on Files & Documents to access all Imports and Exports. Users can re-download files that were previously exported.
