Metrics Panel
Area Metrics panel in Podium's Scenario Viewer provides a detailed breakdown of spatial allocations and efficiency across your selected scenario. This panel is essential for analyzing floor area, coverage, and zoning performance during early-stage planning.
- Navigate to the right-hand panel
- Click on the "Metrics" tab next to "Criteria" (toggle at top right)

Metrics Definition
In Podium, unit nomenclature is assigned based on your site location using regional definitions for the unit system.
Units Settings
We currently support both the Metric and Imperial unit systems.
Site Area
Total land area of the defined project site.
Site Coverage
The percentage of the site area that is covered by building footprint
Site Coverage % = Total Building Footprint Area / Site Area
Gross Plot Ratio (GPR) / Floor Space Index (FSI)
Ratio of total floor area to site area.
GPR = Total Floor Area / Site Area
FSI = Total FSI Area / Site Area
Efficiency
Efficiency % = Total Net Lettable Area / Total Floor Area
When Single Building is selected - The Selected Building
When no building is selected - The Total site
Total Floor Area
This is equivalent to Total Constructed Floor Area. Sum of all the floor areas enclosed within all building’s external walls, and encompassing all usable, non-usable, and service areas.
Total FSI Area
This is equivalent to Total Constructed Floor Area. Sum of all the floor areas enclosed within all building’s external walls, and encompassing all usable, non-usable, and service areas.
Total Net Lettable Area
The sum of all floor areas that are habitable by a tenant, excluding common areas, and service spaces.
Total Carpet Area
This is equivalent to Total Net Lettable Area. Sum of all floor areas that are habitable by a tenant, excluding common areas, and service spaces.
Total Residential Floor Area
The sum of all floor areas that are for residential spaces, including the common areas, and service spaces that are meant to support the users of each floor.

Common Area
The sum of all common areas including cores, lifts and corridors in the building.
Total Non-Buildable Area
Portions of the site excluded from construction (e.g., setbacks, easements).
Total Non-Buildable Area Coverage
Total Non-Buildable Area Coverage % = Total Non-Buildable Area/ Site Area
Total Buildable Area
Site area minus non-buildable areas; available for building footprint.

Total Landscape Area
Area dedicated to landscaping (green spaces, planting zones).
Total Constructed Podium Area
Sum of floor areas within podium levels.
