Product profile
Podium is a platform that empowers suppliers to upload their product variant data to an expanding library of kit-of-parts with a focus on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA). While Podium's product-import feature equips you with the necessary tools to upload your raw product data, this data alone does not offer an immersive experience for designers or developers browsing through the product library. This is where Podium’s product catalogue comes into play..
Product Catalogue
Podium’s product catalogue empowers suppliers to craft comprehensive profile pages for each of their products and seamlessly connect their uploaded product variant data. Upon completion, when a Podium solver applies and configures one of your product variants into a building scenario, users can readily access the respective product profile page for detailed insights. The diagram below illustrates the platform's hierarchy, encompassing an object model with product types categorized by domains. Suppliers manage their presence through the company profile, along with features such as product import and the product catalogue.
Access
To access product profiles, expand the drawer located on the left-hand side of your screen and choose ‘Product Profiles' within the 'Product' section. If you or one of your colleagues has already created product profiles, they will be visible on the page
Add a product profile
To create a new product profile, simply click on the 'Add Product Profile' button situated at the top right of the product-profiles page. This will direct you to a form where you can input the product information.
Edit product profile
When you access the product profile form, you can input the name of your product and craft a meaningful description using our rich-text editor. It's essential to select the relevant Podium product type for your product, ensuring it matches the one chosen during the import of your product variant data.
Upload a product picture
To enhance your product profile, please upload a representative image of your product to the page. You have the option to either drag and drop your image into the form or select "browse" to locate it on your local drive. Please note that there are size limitations and resolution recommendations for product images, which are specified in the form.
Upload supporting documents
We recognize that a single image and a description may not adequately convey all the information about your product to users. Therefore, we provide you with the capability to upload relevant product-documents and -files directly to your profile. To initiate this process, just click on the 'Upload Documents' button and follow the provided prompts.
Link product variants to profile
To ensure that your product profiles are linked to your products as specified in building designs, it's crucial to link the imported product variants to their corresponding product profile. To do this, just select 'Manage' in the variants field, where you'll also see how many variants are already linked to the profile. This action triggers a pop-up interface listing all the imported product variants that match the product type of your product profile.
On the 'Manage Product Variants' page, you can efficiently filter product variants that have already been assigned to product profiles using the 'linked/unlinked' buttons. Additionally, you have the capability to conduct searches or filter and sort the data in the table by utilizing the icons located next to the column headers. To link product variants to your profile, simply select the corresponding variants by checking the boxes on the left-hand side and then click on 'Link Selected’ at the top right of the interface.
Preview product profile
After entering and saving the data for your product profile, you can conveniently preview how the product will appear to other Podium users. To achieve this, just click on the ‘Preview’ button located in the top right corner of your product profile form. After previewing the profile, you can easily return to your form by clicking on the ‘Edit Product Profile’ link at the top of your screen.
Manage product profiles
You can conveniently manage your product profiles from the primary 'Product Profiles' page by accessing the kebab menu located at the far right of a product profile. This menu allows you to preview the profile, link product variants, or add documents. Furthermore, you have the option to return to the form by selecting 'Edit', or completely remove the profile using 'Delete'. It's important to note that deleting a profile does not result in the deletion of any linked product variants.
Feature your product profile
As a supplier, you have a company profile on the Podium platform that you can manage independently. Within your company profile, there is a dedicated section to display your products. Given the potentially extensive range of products at your disposal, you have the flexibility to select which products are showcased on your company profile page for other users to view. This can be achieved by either activating the star symbol on the 'Product Profile' page or utilizing the kebab menu and selecting 'Mark as featured product profile.'
